I recently embarked upon Invisalign treatment with Dr Hannan at Siha Dental. As a nervous patient, I was slightly apprehensive however Hannan and his lovely team have really put me at ease and I could not thank them enough. The team are so welcoming, kind and patient. The design of the clinic is incredible and it really has a calming feel. Look forward to my treatment and would highly recommend!

What is a filling?
A filling repairs a tooth that has been damaged by decay, a chip, or a crack. Your dentist removes the damaged material, cleans the area, and fills the cavity with a restorative material — restoring the tooth's shape, strength, and function.
Fillings are used to:
- Treat cavities caused by tooth decay
- Repair chipped, cracked, or fractured teeth
- Restore teeth worn down by grinding
- Replace old or failing silver (amalgam) fillings
- Fix minor cosmetic irregularities on front teeth
Think you might have a cavity?
Not all cavities are painful — many have no symptoms at all until they get worse. The earlier a filling is placed, the simpler (and cheaper) the treatment. Don't wait.
What Happens If a Cavity Is Left Untreated?
A small cavity is a simple, quick fix. Left alone, decay spreads deeper into the tooth — eventually reaching the nerve and requiring more complex treatment like a root canal, crown, or in some cases, extraction. Getting a filling early is almost always the fastest, least invasive, and most affordable option

Replacing old silver fillings

Many patients come to us wanting to replace amalgam (silver) fillings with modern white alternatives — whether for aesthetic reasons or simply peace of mind about older dental materials.
Replacement is a straightforward procedure. We remove the old filling, prepare the tooth, and place a new composite filling that matches your natural shade exactly.
Fillings frequently asked questions
With good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, composite fillings typically last 5–10 years. How long they last depends on the size of the filling and how well you care for your teeth.
We recommend waiting until the anaesthetic has fully worn off before eating, to avoid accidentally biting your cheek. After that, you can eat normally — though avoid very hard or sticky foods for the first 24 hours.
The area is numbed with local anaesthetic before we begin, so you shouldn't feel pain during the procedure. You may feel some pressure, which is completely normal. Any sensitivity afterwards usually fades within a few hours the same day or in some complex cases the next day.
The cost of a filling depends on it's size, with smallest starting at £195. We also offer membership plan discounts, please find more information on our Fees & Payment Plans page.
